Howard Polley
Time, place, nature and adventure are the inspirations for the photography of Howard Polley.
Born in Ohio and raised in Connecticut, his passion for photography started at an early age coming from the Polley family of accomplished musicians and artists. His love for photography started with his mom, a photographer of the 70’s, who developed her own photos at home. “Of all the birthdays, holidays and candid photos taken over my lifetime, it is the photographs of the slightly unusual, or perhaps overlooked that are most intriguing.” says Polley.
His creative work can be seen in the timeless images from America’s National Parks to European cities and culture. His 2002 acclaimed calendar series of photographs of his beloved hometown of Danbury illustrated a never seen before visual affection for the places he has known all his life.
His love of travel and its documentation through photography is epitomized by his recurring theme best summed up as “looking for adventure. “
His photos not only capture the nuances of a certain place, but also show others the natural beauty and significance of inspiring places throughout the world. His photography is a source of inspiration to others as people often say of Polley’s work that they never realized that place could be so beautiful. Brief Background.......
Born in Ohio and raised in Connecticut, Howard is a self-taught photographer. Starting around 1998 Howard began his photography career using a 35mm SLR Canon Ellan IIe. Around 2002 Howard bought his first digital camera and never looked back. Since then Howard has purchased 8 digital cameras from several different manufactures and has taken over ten thousand photos. Howard’s photos have been published numerous times. He has done 2 Danbury Calendars and one incredible photo book featuring 100’s of photographs of Danbury Ct. and several other towns in his home state. Howard is proficient in photo editing, home printing and has experience with commercial printing, which came from several self-publishing projects he has done in the past. Howard is also a website developer and a computer technician, which he says are two great skills to have if you are a digital Photographer. Howard is also a videographer and enjoys filming and film editing.
