Hiking the Undermountain Trail through Mt. Riga State Park to the Bear Mountain Summit the highest summit in Ct. at 2,316 feet.

Undermountain Trail head is just over 3 miles north of Salisbury Ct. center on Route 41.
The trail 6.7 miles in length and about 4 hours hiking with being Moderately Difficult. There are 2 ways to the Summit of Bear Mt.
& other trails that connect to the trail so it's a good idea to have a map and compass.
The Undermountain Trail is part of the Appalachian Trail. The  Appalachian Trail runs 50 miles of its 2,174 miles through Ct.  amc-ct.org

Note: The highest point in Conn. is the south slope of Mt. Frissell at 2,380 feet,
but Mt. Frissell's summit at 2,453 ft. is in Massachusetts so it does not count as the highest summit in Conn.
