Charles Edward Ives, an American composer of modernist classical music,
was born in Danbury, Ct. on October 20th 1874 is this house.
 The house was originally located on the corner of Main Street & Chapel Place & was built by Thomas Tucker in 1780.
The house was later moved to this location on 5 Mountainville Avenue in 1966.

Charles Edward Ives was the son of Mary Elizabeth Parmalee & George Edward Ives. Charles later moved to west
Redding in 1894. Charles Edward Ives father George Ives was a music teacher just like my father Howard
who was born on 1927 in a house on Westville Ave. in Danbury. 
My father also went to Yale to study music as did Charles Edward Ives who gradated in 1898.
Charles Edward Ives loved to write on the top of Pine Mountain in Ridgebury.

1947 Charles Edward Ives received a Pulitzer Prize for his Symphony Number 3 which he had written 40 years earlier.
