Visit Danbury's Military Museum

Visitors can learn about the human dimensions of historic battles as well as see military hardware at the Military Museum of Southern New England in Danbury. There are armored vehicles, tank destroyer weapons, all kinds of military hardware, including a remote controlled demolition vehicle known as the "Goliath," which was manufactured by the Germans and first used in Italy, at Anzio. On Open Turret Days visitors may go inside some of the vehicles; they’re usually the last Saturday of the month. Most of the displays are dedicated to World War II, including a major exhibit on the Battle of the Bulge. A special exhibit is "The Vietnam War: 25 Years After." "Names on the Wall" offers computer access to the information on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 to 5, Sunday 12 to 5, April 1-Nov. 30 (weekends during winter). Admission is $4 for adults; $2 for active duty military, seniors, and children 6 to 18. There is a gift shop and a library. Visit there Website
