“Holiday deals with a difference - go off the beaten track for less”
We all love a good holiday and, because of the low cost and familiarity, many people end up going to the same European resorts ever year. Whilst there is nothing wrong with spending a couple of weeks lounging around the pool in the sun, it may be time to try something different. Many people think that going off the beaten track means that you have to pay a premium, but this is not the case. There are a lot of companies offering great holiday deals to far-flung and adventurous locations.
If you’re the type of person that likes to be active when you’re on holiday then the Atlas Mountains are the perfect place to visit. Stretching through the northwestern stretch of Africa, the Atlas Mountains offer truly stunning views that have to be seen to be believed. One of the best ways to explore them is by mountain bike, with many companies offering some well priced package deals for mountain bike tours. Whilst you are there, make sure that you check out the many Kasbahs (fortresses) at the bottom of Jebel Mgoun, Morocco’s second highest peak.
Tanzania is not often thought of as a place to holiday, with many people choosing Kenya instead. The former, though, offers similar highlights to Kenya, but at a much smaller price, as tourism isn’t as developed. Tanzania is true Safari country, so no trip would be complete without spotting some fantastic wild animals in one of Tanzania’s many spectacular parks. You should also make a point to visit Zanzibar, the famous spice isle; and Zanzibar City, the historic capital.
A great alternative to the more popular Thailand, Indonesia is more off the beaten, tourist track but every bit as beautiful. Bali is probably the most popular place to visit and for good reason, with its ornate carved temples a particular highlight. The magnificent Maduwe Karang is one of the pick of these, decorated with characters from Balinese legends. You should also visit the Goa Gajah, or elephant cave, a monastery carved into the hillside. The flights will probably be the biggest expense when visiting Bali, as you will find prices very reasonable once you get there.
Eastern Europe has become an increasingly popular holiday destination in recent years, but Romania is still relatively unexplored by tourists. Romania offers everything from beaches to mountains so is perfect for every type of traveler. Transylvanian cities - as you would think from the legends - offer castles and a medieval atmosphere, but unlike the legends you will find them welcoming and impressive! Romanian cuisine is also very underrated, taking its influences from Greek, German and Italian food. The price of eating out is relatively cheap and you can get some great deals on hotels for a very comfortable stay.
