Spurs 95 - Knicks 88
December 27, 2009 (6:00 PM)
My first pro basketball game at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
My first time at Madison Square Garden was over ten years ago for 2 college basketball games, a division 3 game that had Western Conn. State College playing and a division 1 college game that followed. This time the seats were awesome.
We also were able to use the club entrance so we didn't have to wait in line to get in.
Though the Knicks held opponents under 100 points for the 10th straight time they still came up short. The Spurs led by only 50-47 at the break and the game was tied at 84 until Ginobili hit a long jumper with 3:25 remaining. Game Recap. All in all it was a good game and the intermission entertainment was fun to watch.
The first Knicks game was played on December 2, 1946 against
the Toronto Huskies at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens.
The New York Knickerbockers won 68–66.
On an Historic day on March 2, 1962 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Warriors Wilt Chamberlain scored a NBA-record 100 points against the Knicks.
The Warriors won the game 169–147.
The Knicks won there first championship in 1970 against the Lakers 113–99.
The Knicks last championship was won in 1973.
Madison Square Garden, "MSG" or "The Garden" is the worlds most famous arena. Located at 8th Avenue between 31st & 33rd Streets situated on top of Pennsylvania Train Station. The arena first opened in 1879. On February 14, 1968 the arena opened for its fourth incarnation. The seating Capacity is 18,200.
I hope in the future they will figure out a way to make professional sports more affordable and more accessible to everyone. The tickets we had were $240.00 each and the drinks were almost $10.00 each. I just happened to get lucky because someone knew someone that I knew who were generous enough to take me along.
