8.5 mile round trip to the highest peak in Texas 8,749 feet ( about a 6 hour hike with an hour at the summit)
(Guadalupe Mountains are mostly limestone
built from the ancient undersea fossilized reef)

Note: One man ran to the top in less then 1 hour and  in July 1982 a group of six paraplegics climb to the top in 5 days Story
