A Monarch Butterfly hanging on to some Golden Rod Flowers, Solidago Altissima
The male monarchs have a black spot on each of the hind wings over a vein.
The female monarch butterfly does not have this spot.
The males black veins on its wing are narrower than the female’s. The male is also slightly larger.
